Have been worried about a big test coming up soon? Maybe an audition or a performance? If you are, you are not the only one. In fact, I’m worried about a HUGE audition right now. Well, it might not be huge to you but it is huge to me. I am auditioning for a dance team that my school has, and get this, they are probably performing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! If I blow it today, I blow the shot of ever being able to be in this parade.
When I’m nervous I turn to scripture to see what God has to say about it.
Matthew 6:25-34 says “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you-yoy of little faith? So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or What shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
The Lord says that we should not worry because worrying will do us no good but will only make us feel worse. He also says that when we worry it won’t add a single hour to our lives so why should we worry? The birds and the flowers are fed and kept alive, and are we not much greater than them?
Today while I was talking to my teacher Mrs. Amy, she said to me that if I don’t make this dance team, there is a reason that God will not let me be on this dance team because there is something greater in the future. Also, if I make the dance team, she said that it is God’s will and that that is what he wants for me.
Even if you are worried about something coming up or something in the past, always know that you are never alone. God is always with you and there is always someone who is going through the same thing that you are.
You are not alone.
“For the sake of his great name the Lord will not reject his people, because the Lord was pleased to make you his own.” -1 Samuel 12:22
