Feeling Insecure?

If you’ve ever felt insecure raise your hand. I’m pretty sure you just raised your hand because insecurity is a part of everyone’s daily struggles. The thing is, you don’t have to feel insecure about yourself.

Society says that every girl should wear a size two skinny jean and and an extra small size shirt. Society says that every girl should wear makeup because if they don’t, you’re ugly. Society says that every girl’s hair should look like they are in a movie. Society says that if your teeth aren’t white, you’re disgusting. Society tells girls that we need to be perfect and that we can’t be who we are. If you follow the “rules” of society, why do you? Do you want to be just like to the girl to your right and your left? Do you just want to be that girl who is always overlooked? Or do you follow the “rules” of society because you want to fit in?

The truth is that you don’t need to be just like everyone else. You don’t have to be a twig. You don’t have to wear the cutest clothes. You don’t have to look like you just walked out of a movie scene. You don’t have to be perfect because newsflash. No one on this whole planet is more perfect than you are. Everyone has their own flaws that are different than others, but that doesn’t mean you are less perfect then they are.

You may be overweight. You may have yellow teeth. You may have hair that just can’t be tamed. You may not have the cutest clothes. You may not wear makeup every day.

Just because you don’t look or act like everyone else you are going to tear yourself down? Is it really worth it? Do you think that the guy you like is going to pick you out of a sea of girls if you look the same as the others? Do you always want to be overlooked when it comes to auditions or competitions? I’m pretty sure you do not want to be just like the girl next to you, but you do it anyways.

No one should feel insecure about themselves because God made all of us differently for a purpose. God doesn’t want us to look like each other.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing a perfect.” -Romans 12:2

Don’t let the weight of the world tell you you aren’t good enough or because you are different you should be insecure about yourself. Being different is okay. Being different is outstanding. Always be happy with yourself and don’t change who you are. Be the person who changes the world, and don’t let the world change you.

“You don’t worry about fitting in when you custom made.” -Liza Koshy

Remember, if you feel like you are alone, you aren’t. There is always someone out there who is going through the exact same thing that you are.
