Ah. It’s the time of year when sweat turns into goosebumps and tea turns into coffee. It’s also the time of year when homecoming is just around the corner. Autumn.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love Autumn, but I don’t like all the stress that comes with it. School starts getting harder, sports are beginning, and homecoming is happening. Homecoming can be wonderful or it can be terrible, you just have to make the best out of it.
This year is my first year ever going to homecoming and it’s pretty stressful. Girls want to get asked, have a wonderful mum (if you live in Texas), and of course look amazing. This year I did not get asked to homecoming and it’s not the end of the world. This is to girls who are reading this: if you don’t get asked to homecoming, the world isn’t going to end, you won’t get made fun of, and you’ll still have an amazing time at the dance. Over half of the girls in my grade didn’t get asked to homecoming this year because the boys have claimed to not be ready to take someone on a date yet (which I totally understand). The one thing girls freak out about in my school is that if you don’t have a date, you don’t get a mum, which is not true at all. Anyone can get you a mum. In fact, I got myself a mum! A mum is a gorgeous thing that you wear around your neck on the day of homecoming. (If you don’t know what a mum looks like, there is a picture of one at the bottom.) Going along with looking gorgeous, all girls want to look amazing at the dane. We want to have a wonderful dress and shoes and of course have the best makeup and hair, but if you don’t that’s totally fine too. Homecoming is a really fun time of the year but can also be stressful. Just make it out to how you want it to be and you will have fun.
